As others have mentioned, I agree with Skyline Drive being a must see, lunch at Black Bear also. I was very surprised how scenic and accommodating the park was for Class A Motor home camping. It is the most scenic place to park overnight in at least a 100 mile radius. When there, go to McDonald Observatory also!

We were not able to get reservations at the Indian Lodge but stopped by to see it and had an iced tea at the Black Bear Restaurant. We drove up to the highest drivable point in the park and it has a lovely view. I would definitely want to stay at the Indian Lodge if I return to Ft. Davis... More

Skyline drive was nice and the Nature Center was well cared for with a nice picture window for indoor air conditioned bird watching.

Great place to bird watch. Saw 50 species in the Davis Mountain area in two days. Could have sat at the feeder station in the Interpretive Center for hours. Be sure and hike over to the seep in the Primative Area.

The park is a perfect place to enjoy a picnic along this beautiful drive. It's quiet and a lovely place to take a break.

Camping and day visits are the best way to visit this park (avoid staying in the State-run "hotel") located in the Davis Mountains. There's a great drive to the top of a mountain, with two lookouts where you can park and enjoy the vast horizon for many miles. We were there just after Easter weekend and there were no crowds.... Davis Mountains State Park is located in the Davis Mountains in West Texas and is a relatively short drive from Big Bend National Park and Big Bend State Park. Because of the elevation, it is a popular camping and hiking spot during the summer months. We stayed in early March and the campground was relatively empty. Many sites have full... More

We took our three dogs through the trails in the park. Everyone was friendly and considerate. The dogs absolutely loved it as did we. Will have to go back soon!

Lots of birds. Trails not well marked but still great hiking. The Indian Lodge is a great place to stay.

We explored the park while staying at the lodge. Go to the bird feeder viewing station and drive the skyline road.
