This house is beautiful and amazing. It was very interesting to learn the history of the Flavel family and to see how they lived so many years ago. Some say the house is haunted, so be on the lookout for mysterious things.

This is a good house museum, though not the best I've seen. The docent was friendly and full of stories which would have added charm to the house if incorporated into displays or interpretation. Probably the best learning experience is the introductory video you can see for free at the gift shop / carriage house, as it tells how a...

Very nice house, kinda modest by "estate" standards, but an xlent introductory film, fair prices, engaging docents, and a nice introduction to the downtown residential area.
this home shows you that back when it was built what you could buy and the abundance of lumber that was in the area. if you like old homes it is a nice tour.
A beautiful home and carriage house to visit. The streets near Flavel House are closed due to sewer repair. I am not aware how long the repair will last and the streets are closed as of my visit May 15-16, 2013.
Came to town on a cruise ship, not sure what to do... One of the people up at the Astoria Column told us about this and we had to go, based on her enthusiasm.
Started by watching a short historical video in the carriage house and then went on the self-guided tour of the house and grounds. Very interesting and...

The Flavel house is nicely kept Queen Anne style Victorian Mansion (I use this term loosely, its just a big house) very pretty decorations and architecture. A bit like Pittock Mansion in Portland OR (if you've ever been). Tours are self guided and begin at the Carriage House a ways up from the house itself. Watch the 15m. video before...

This museum is a beautiful walk through history. The Historical Society have done an incredible job in saving a big part of Astoria's history.
This area is full of history from Lewis & Clark to present. The Flavel House is a majestic house built in the late 1800,s it is worth the stop just to marvel at this historical architecture. From Japanese torpedos to sunken ships here history will even impress a 12 year old....
Very beuitiful old victorian home with beuitiful antique furniture as well! It was the first residence in Astoria to have running water inside! And the water use to be much closer to the house as well. When you arrive first go to the carriage house to buy tickets and watch the 20 min video on the history of the mansion,...
