I give credit to the folks who brave the sweltering heat in their costumes. The actual battles are pretty exciting but there is a whole lot of nothing going on otherwise. Traffic control is AWEFUL. Be warned, you will quickly tire of the people who take this way to seriously unless you are a total fanatic. More

As I am using Tripadvisor to plan a little getaway to Gettysburg this weekend, I see the reviews for this event and am remembering my own hideously disappointing experience with the reenactment last summer. My first and last visit to the reenactment, I assure you. What a debacle! The poor spectators, including the old and special needs, entered and wandered... More

We admittedly did not do our research, but we drove to visit friends in Gettysburg and decided to check out the reenactment. When we walked to the entrance, we learned that the tickets were $30 per adult & $15 per child. It would have cost our small group $180!! We decided to leave, and we were not the only ones... More

Purchased tickets online for the Sunday event. Did not see anywhere on the site that we could purchase tickets for bleacher seating or would have done so. Once we arrived started seeing people with wristbands so inquired what these were for and found out that for $10 per person could purchase tickets to sit in the bleachers. Okay, no problem....went... I went with with my teenaged sons and was teribly disappointed. the ticket prices outrageous. For all that money we were forced to stand in hot humid conditions. We had a poor view of the proceedings- people had opened umbrellas standing in front of us. The commentator's voice was garbled and inaudible. ( Please next time have speakers on the... More

Well worth the trip! Be sure to visit all of the reenactment tents throughout the field. Plan on leaving at least an hour early to get there on time. Traffic was bumper to bumper getting to the field. Get your tickets on-line... not at the gate. IF you want stadium seating plan on arriving at least an hour early...this is... More

you can't appreciate true sacrifice and the civil war until you go to gettysburg and tour the battlefield with an official licensed guide, and then go to the reenactment. Listen to the talk by Robert E.Lee, Go to the chuch service. Make your reservations for lodging well in advance. Get the bleacher seating and carry lots of water, You can't... More

From either end you can watch troops assembling and some cannon close-up, but action gravitates towards center. Fork out the extra for the bleachers and elevation (binocs' help regardless) - and - be prepared to grab the better seats an hour before showtime. If it's 90-100 like this weekend, bring an umbrella or snag some cold drinks for the wait.... More
