There are a lot of animals and things to see. We brought our nieces ages 1.5, 3 and 6. The Big Dig Dinosaur area was the best part. Parking is close and secure.

Went on numerous school trips here when I was in school and continually take my kids who are fascinated by everythiong. So much to learn and see, there just isn't enough time in a month of Sundays, and its always a pleasure to return. It only gets better.
My husband and I were in Philadelphia to attend a conference and had a free afternoon so we decided to go the Natural Science Museum. I was taken aback by the price: $15 for anyone over 13, and $12 ages 3-13. This could prove a pretty expensive outing for a family.
Something you have to understand is that the museum...

Behind the Franklin Institute, this was my dinosaur-loving daughter's favorite and an overall favorite for the family. Definitely take the time to stop by and see the exhibits and perhaps talk with a student working on the fossils.
Do be prepared for the school and preschool crowds, though. If you can avoid them, you will have a much more enjoyable...

Not anywhere near as awesome as the Museum of Natural History in my hometown, NYC, but definitely a fun visit for a couple of hours. The "stuffed" animal dioramas & dinosaurs were my favorites. Fun trip with or without kids.
A dark, drab, dingy, dated attraction that seems stuck in the 1950's & is way too expensive. Needs a cleaning and makeover badly, along with some better lighting. Very disappointing. There's a ton of other stuff for adults & kids to do in Philly, so don't waste your time & money here.
The museum itself is fairly interesting and can be seen in about two hours. Unfortunately there is no limit on preschool and elementary school groups. These groups are filled with screaming children who ruin every exhibit for everyone else. I recommend going late in the day and/or calling in advance to see how many groups are scheduled for the day...

Great museum for individuals and families. I brought our 11 and 8 year old children (boy & girl) this past week and we all loved it and learned a lot too! From dinosaur fossils, to a beautiful butterfly garden, to fabulous dioramas of animals from all over the world, and much more-we explored each area fully. The staff and volunteers...

We decided to visit for the 1st time on a "free admission" day. We had a really nice time. Our kids ages, 6 & 8 enjoyed the live animal show. I think my favorite exhibit was, the butterfly room. It's a great opportunity to take close up pictures of butterflies. We will most likely return.
Didn't know what to expect from this place, as it seems somewhat of an afterthought in terms of museums, but it was surprisingly interesting. They have some pretty cool paleontological displays, and even have a room where you can see and interact with volunteers as they work to remove fossils from sediment. As a paleontology enthusiast, I thought this was...
