Living in NYC and hosting plenty of guests I've learned the Top of the Rock is a better viewing platform than the Empire State Building. For one thing, you get a great view of the ESB--and a real sense of how tall it is compared to the buildings around it. You don't get that from the street or even from...

I recently took my son to NYC for the day and was so pleased that the view at the “Top of the Rock” was what he considered to be the highlight of our quite enjoyable trip. I chose to take him to the Rockefeller Center over the Empire State Building because I think the view is so much better there...

Much cheaper than the ESB, but with as good, though different, view.
The top is higher than the 86th floor main observatory of the ESB, but is lower than the top 101st floor observation desk.

We went on a spur of the moment and had I know how much it was going to cost before we were already in line, I wouldn't have done it. It wasn't as crowded as Empire State Building or take as long to do but for the price of it I wouldn't do it again.

We visited here and the empire state building and preferred the views and location here better. It's also a lot quieter enabling you to get a better view.
We visited to watch sunset and watching as the sun set and the city come alive is a magical experience.
I found TOTR a much smoother process than the Empire State Building,...

Reasons why this is better than Empire State
1 - you get an agreed time slot instead of queuing for enternity
2 - you can get a great view from virtually anywhere on the observation deck, not just when you are pressed against a wire fence by 100's of tourists
3 - it's enclosed in glass so you don't feel...
