Who says that a "thift" store just doesn't offer the selection of books or cds just hasn't been here. Excellent selection, numerous categories. Little coffee shop in the back & many events. Check them out!

Love the feel of this place with pillars, balcony, wooden stairs and books from floor to ceiling. The cafe is a natural part of the bookstore. The staff is friendly and the handful of tables are full of people working, talking, surfing and reading. Free wifi

Housing works bookstore is in a beautiful old building on a classic cobblestone ny street. It's worth visiting just for the siteseeing but there are also great deals on books and clothing next door. Definately worth a visit if you happen to be in soho.

Went here for a wedding. It was a friendly, warm place. Would recommend it for someone looking for a special place. If you want ultra fancy, this isn't it. But if you want someplace to have an event that is charming--and funds good work--this could be it.
