The 9/11 Memorial consists of two massive pools set within the original footprints of the Twin Towers with 30-foot waterfalls cascading down their sides. The nearly 3,000 names of the men, women, and children killed in the attacks are inscribed into bronze parapets surrounding the twin Memorial pools. This national tribute, located at the heart of the World Trade Center, also gives visitors the unique opportunity to witness the rebuilding taking place around them—including the construction of 1 World Trade Center, which will be the tallest building in the United States. Although free to visit, advance passes for a specific date and time are required. Visitor passes, including same-day passes, can be reserved on the Memorial website. « less

The memorial is beautifully done, despite the crowds and surrounding construction, it still seems very calm and peaceful. The security is strict however. While the tickets are free, they checked the tickets no less than 5 time from the entrance to the memorial itself, so don't put the ticket away until you leave. More

The memorial was very moving once we were able to get in. We had made 330 reservations the day before. The entrance is kind of hidden away down an ally. We had to go through a metal detector and a few different check-points. There was a person who was explaining the significance of some of the design choices which was... More

Had a 1030 reservation with virtually no wait. By the time I left, about 1130, the line to get in was huge. Lovely place to spend time in quiet reflection. More

The 9/11 memorial is as much a living testament to people's ability to not give in to hate as it is a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives on that tragic day. The memorial is a quite place in a bustling city and offers you the chance to honour those lost but also get a sense of peace.... More

A must do for any visitor. Even though this isn't really an attraction the experience was beautiful and moving. More

Sorry, I have to differ here. The Memorial, while certainly called for, struck me as cold. The old construction fence, stuffed with notes, pictures, flags and mementos was a true memorial, had humanity all over it. Going through endless lines, waiting to pass the security check before entering the memorial grounds reminds me more of what our country has become,... More

The site is a beautiful place to visit but very touching. What happened that day was so sad and you can feel the vibe as you stand by the fountains, I have goosebumps just writing this. The only downside is the security, it felt a little over the top. More

This is a tough spot to 'review'...how exactly do you review a memorial where multitudes of people lost their lives after a horrific act of murder and injustice? Let me put it this way- this is a site I recommend to every visitor. Not because it's enjoyable, but because it's powerful. The memorial is a great idea and it is... More

This is a must see for visitors to NYC. You will encounter security and a short wait, but it's worth the small hassle. This is a beautiful and inspiring memorial. Skip the "Visitor's Center", there's not much there. More
