I spent an hour one morning exploring the Gramercy Park area. Very charming, with beautifully ornated buildings. The park of course is closed to non-residents but it's nice to peek through the gates. I recommend the short hop on foot down to 19th Street between Irving Place and 3rd Avenue. Look up. Keep looking up. All kinds of surprises await.... More

We visited Gramercy Park twice while staying in the hotel. It’s almost impossible for the park to live up to its aura (it doesn’t), but this is a neat piece of real estate that is pleasant enough to encourage a visit if you have the means. Gramercy Park is indeed lovely and quiet - mainly because it is a PRIVATE park with access given only to the 250 people who have keys. You can walk around it and peer in through the fence.There are also some lovely buildings facing the park including the fab New York Arts Club. Ask at reception nicely and they might let... More
