The Asia Society collection is quite unique. On one occasion ,there was a magnificent mobile in the window that provided the essence of bird in perpetual motion. There is a splendid lunch served. Reservations are suggested. We had soup, a shellfish dish, salads, chicken dish. Everything was flavorful, fresh and delicious. The front end staff are harried but the servers... More

The Asia Society is devoted to promoting understanding among the people, leaders, and institutions of Asia and the United States. Typical programs include lectures, demonstrations, discussions about Asian arts and culture, policy and business. The museum exhibits exquisite sculpture and art. The gift shop features an extensive book selection, Asian fabrics, and more. There is a cafe. The entire facility... More

When we went to visit the Asia Society and Museum, the paintings and scrolls of ancient Chinese recluses were on display. The collection the museum had was astonishing. The paintings were unique and beautifully preserved. It was a great visual experience. Each exhibit provided information that allowed further understanding of the topic and really took me into the world of... More

Last visit only the store and Garden Court Restaurant were open. Food and shopping still worth a visit. This week as part of Asia Week we visited the 3rd floor collection and the special on Chinese Recluse Art. The collection was small but contained some of the finest pieces we have seen. Not to be missed. The Recluse exhibition was... More

I live in NYC, and yet I had never made it into this museum - until today - so see the Lin Tianmiao show, which took my breath away. Besides the fabulous show, there is a cafe that looks out onto Park Avenue and 69th street - which was a really nice space and is a great place to get... More

Ex New Yorkers like my husband and I would never go to NTC without first seeing what the Asian Society is featuring. On our recent trip I took my husband to see works by Lin Tianmiao and was so mesmerized I brought another friend back the next day. Two the the rooms of her works envelope you with her message.... Wu GuonZhon emerged from study in Paris and Communist China's punishment for study in Paris with a vision grounded in landscape and traditional Chinese painting, black ink, Chinese watercolor on rice paper. He understood the Grand Canyon and the Yellow River with equal insight and passion. His paintings became a unique vision, leading by example while other Chinese artists sought... More

I love small museums. I can see everything and not get worn out. This one always has excellent exhibits, and is well-worth a visit.

I'm horrified to admit that it took me years of multiple visits to New York to get around to the Asia Society. And now that I've seen it, I'm positive it'll become a regular location. The place is ultra-manageable in size, and has no crowds to deal with-- a nice break from other NYC attractions. And their exhibitions are high-quality... More
