The Met is well, THE Met! Performances we attended of Wagner's Ring Cycle were just spectacular. However, the facility itself really needs updating. Carpet is worn in areas and the women's lounge had stainless steel ash trays in the stalls!! What is this - 1960?? Please, put some money into this world renowned opera house. More

We wanted to seee this opera for a long while. I deliberately did not read about the production ahead of time, so I was surprised. At first, the very simple, minimalist set was off-putting but then I really started to appreciate it. There were no elaborate costumes, scenery, props .... just wonderful music and acting, and the teleprompter in front... More

I was super happy to get a ticket to the matinee on Wednesday. I must say I would a little disappointed by the ability of the dancers. The woman who played Giselle wasn't terribly emotive. That said, the orchestra was superb. I was so overwhelmed with the perfect execution of the music. The pas de deux in Act Two was... More

May is the beginning of another stellar season for the ABT, and it never disappoints. If you've never been to the MET and opera is not your thing, the ABT is for you! The hall is so impressive and grand -- you've got to see the chandeliers rising to the ceiling and get the feel of this international icon. Way... More

If you like opera or can tolerate a live performance, then attending at least one performance at the "New Met" is a must. If you are too young to have ever been in the "Old Met", that is even better. Some would argue that whereas the Old Met rivaled some of the great historic opera houses of Europe, the New... More

Love the Met! Saw Traviata and it was breathtaking. Skip the snacks in the cafe upstairs. Cheeseburger at PJ Clarke's afterwards is the way to go. Opera and a burger - to die for! More

The Metropolitan Opera house is beautiful designed with it's sweeping panoramic descending stairs and it's art deco ceiling with chandeliers that are raised during the performances. We saw Wagner's The Ring cycle .We did not care for the staging, found that it did a great disservice to the magic and mysticism that is part of the Ring We saw it staged... More
