Nice shops for out-of-towners. Shopping is boring due to all the large chain stores. The bars in the area are nice but nothing not seen in other cities. great place to walk around and people watch.

I love the old sailing ships docked here and the most amazing view of the Brooklyn Bridge! I have been here when it was cold, warm, raining, snowing and nothing can take away from the spectacular views of Brooklyn and the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges

The area was devastated and flooded by Katrina. The stores are closed, and the seaport will soon be razed. Not much to see here, and the food court is mediocre at best.

Went there on a sunny day and (almost) all shops were open. Most fun was the christmas store (open all year) where you can get real chliché 'murica stuff like a hunting rifle santa clause and cowboy christmas ornaments.

Like an Oasis in the midst of the skyscraoers of Lower Manhattan, the South Street Seaport is a must visit. Check out the restored ships, have lunch, shop at Pier 17 and then enjoy views of the Harbor & East River on the decks afterwards.
