I am a Narrative Storyteller. I learned to visualize other lives through visiting the museums of New York City as a child. The docent for our class trip to one museum captivated my imagination for decades with the following remark: "These Egyptian necklaces before you are very old and very special; you see, we do not know how to open... This place is huge - you can spend hours and hours and still feel like you never saw everything. I love all the various eras they have - beautiful Roman and Italian sculptures and knick knacks, and then on other floors, you have some amazing paintings that span all sorts of generations and styles. I think this is a worthy... More

Overall it is worth visiting the Met. However you should check ahead to see what exibits are closed. Having previously been to Egypt I was very keen to see all of the Egyptian exibits, however on the day of our visit they were preparing for some private dinner function and the main exibits were closed. This is my own fault... More

From the dutch masters to the delphic oracle, from egyptian dolls to modern art, a day or two (and two days is almost mandatory to even give a rough oversight to everything, for you will stop to gawk at certain exhibits) of wandering will make you happy you brought good walking shoes (here is my lesson for this review), The... This is the best museum ever! You can spend days in this beautiful place. I love the jewelry exhibit and furniture too. On Saturday I love the orchestra in the center with a glass of wine. Simply devine! The Art is wonderful, but the whole package,e is a must for anyone visiting NYC. More

Such a beautiful building and so many things to see in the permanent collection. We spent only 3 hours there and had a great experience but did not see everything the Met had to offer. More

It's big! Plan to stay at least half a day. You won't see it all, but it is a vast collection to browse and learn about something you didn't know! Take the city bus to get here. More

Excellent presentation and creative designs. Also saw the Gertrude Stein collection of paintings. We were in awe of the many famous artists that were displayed. The only negative was that we had a difficult time finding the exits. More

The exhibits are laid out very well with lots of room to see everything. Not too much trouble viewing even the most popular items. We were surprised they allowed photography though. It becomes a bit annoying to continually wait for people to size up their shot and then go through the routine again. It really slows down the tour. More
