A perfect 70 degrees with a nice ocean breeze. Beautiful sunset views. Falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing on the beach below. Seagulls regularly patrolling the airspace above the bluffs and occasionally depositing souvenirs on your campsite. Sounds like a perfect vacation to me. I would definitely do South Carlsbad SB Campground again. Next year, we're booking early... More

This was our first camping trip to Carlsbad and we had a great time. The beach is down a long flight of stairs and we never made it down there. We did see dolphins everyday. The campsites all have their own fire pits and were very large. They have showers and bathrooms that are close to all the sites. It's... More

This campground is right on a coastal highway with little separation from the roadway so it is noisy and bright. We stayed in a tent at site 205 which was a huge campsite. It turned out to be right by an intersection with red lights and 4 large overhead street lights. Our tent was lighted all night (bad) but traffic... More

We went in early may so it was a bit cold but it was one of my kids first time that he could remeber going to the beach. They loved it. The beach was a bit dirty but I am sure that during the summer it is taken care of more. Not a bad beach.

This is a nice larger campsite where the ocean is your backyard. Went here on a Monday, and the campground was basically empty.....won't be the case after Memorial Day but it sure was a nice evening out with friends. Site 52 is a great spot!

Well maintained and in good location. Try the fish restaurant located at the entrance to the beach then head one block south for a great frozen yogurt.

One of the best beaches in San Diego area, clean, never too crowded like ones in San Diego itself, quiet, very nice. It actually stratches all the way from Torrey Pines almost to Oceanside Pier, so if you feel adventurous, you can take a long walk from La Jolla to Oceanside.

If you love to walk on the beach this is for you. Plenty of room for the kids to play. The sand was clean and the facilities too.

As many reviewers have noted, this is a great state park campground located on a bluff above the Pacific Ocean. Overall, the sites are large and well maintained. Ocean-front sites are $50 per night, while the inland sites (closer to Carlsbad Blvd) go for $35 a night. Spend the extra $15 a night and reserve an ocean-front site - it's... More

I've been camping at South Carlsbad every year since I was a kid, and can't believe I haven't reviewed it on here yet. This really is the quintessential beach camping spot, whether you're a camping rookie or a seasoned vet. There are full service bathrooms about every 10 sites, which include showers, toilets, large outdoor washtub, and electrical outlets. About... More
