I grew up in San Diego and have been going to the MoM since the early 1950s. It is now totally PC and all of the old, educational exhibits have be downplayed. Diversity is the theme throughout. Anthropology is definitely in second place. And, why is the gift shop closing? More

The City Pass card gets you into a lot of things for one price...which I wish I had done. Balboa park has lots of places to visit and I got nickel and dimed going into the individual museums. The Mayan/Mesoamerican exhibit was good and the special exhibit about skateboarding and cultural implications were all good. More

The Maya exhibits were amazing - another one of those 'how on earth did they manage to do that' things! The evolution of man was really interesting and very educational. This museum would interest all ages from the very young to the very old. More

I'm a big fan of Ancient Egypt and Ancient Maya. The exhibits, although small, are pretty informative. More

We came here (24/3/12) on recommendation from a "lone" travel guide book under the promise that the museum specialises in Native American artefacts from the American SW Hugely disappointing. Not worth $12 each we paid. The museum contained a very small section of Native American artefacts, a larger collection of egyptian mummies and a larger collection of plaster casts of... More

Again, we enjoy the exhibits, the ambiance and the setting. We spend a day walking Balboa park and choose a museum for the visit. M o M is one of our favorites. Give it enough time and make sure you know what is on display so that you see something that you are interested in. More

This museum is so fascinating--I love the history of man from the beginning of time through to present. It is fun to see the timeline of important inventions as well. The "shrunken heads" exhibit is great. More
