This is the first of the chain of 21 California missions, founded in 1769 by Father Junipero Serra. The mission is beautiful, and not hard to find, though outside of the main part of San Diego. The grounds and the church are beautiful, and a peaceful place to visit. More

This is an nice stop in your tour of San Diego. However, the mission isn't open on most days so, it will be a brief stop. Luckily, the San Diego historic center is nearby so you can do both without any trouble. More
