There are three theaters in the complex and during the summer, there is something playing nearly every night. The Shakespeare Festival's shows in the summer are outdoors and consistently good. The smallish theater in the round facility produces some of the most engaging productions, because of the intimacy. There are no bad seats in any of the venues.

Wonderful theater complex. For a number of years, I've come to see Shakespeare's plays and loved Summer evening shows, particularly those around the Perseid meteor showers, in the middle of August.
Travelled to San Diego in May. Took in a play at the Old Globe theatre in Balboa Park. What a good decision. The theatre is oustanding from a viewing and acoustic perspective, the players were top class and the setting in Balboa park was incredible. Online odering process is really simple and you simply pick up your tickets at the...

We have been fortunate to see Shakespeare in the outdoor theater and another excellent show in the small theater in the round. I would say there is not a bad seat in either and the entertainment value is a 10.

The location is prefect and it is a replica of the Old Globe Theatre in England. They have both old and new plays there.
I have seen many plays over the years. The outdoor theater is my favorite. Go, you will love it! The location in balboa park is a must visit. We go to San Diego several times a year, usually for a month at a time, and never miss a visit to the Old Globe complex.
Almost every play seem to be about family members yelling at each other. Why the Globe keeps putting these on, is beyond me. If it wasn't for my wife, I'd leave the theater within minutes for a least half the plays they put on. Yelling in not "ENTERTAINING"!!!!
I was fortunate enough to be around when the new musical "Allegiance" premiered in San Diego with cast members George Takai and Lea Salonga at the forefront. I had bought tickets on the cheap for myself and my son who was visiting. Not only was the show terrific, but every seat in the house looked like it was a really...
