I made a stop at this museum during my first trip to Kansas. The location of the museum is fantastic. It's in the actual segregated school, Monroe Elementary, that Linda Brown attended as a child! There was an interesting and thorough, if slightly dated video, to introduce you to African American history. In addition, there were areas that showed the... More

I was here briefly, and what I saw was a great presentation of the race issues of the 50's and 60's. More

I'm not sure why people wouldn't love this museum. It is incredibly well-done, giving information about all aspects of the Civil Right movement, but especially related to education. The film series shown in the gym is really cool, especially how it related to different themes. All of the exhibits are well-done, with tons of audio and video footage. Yes, you... More

The most striking feature is when you first walk in and see arrows for whites and coloreds. Nicely done displays. More

The only people that visit here are students who are forced to go here for a field trip for history class or whatever. Yeah it was an important supreme court case I agree. But, if you have ever watched a show on the history channel about this subject then you already know everything you are going to learn here. I... More

We saw signs for the Brown v. Board of Education site last year on a trip and decided to visit when we were passing through Topeka again this year. This site is pretty easy to find if you follow the signs, although it doesn't stand out if you aren't watching. Inside the Monroe School, which was one of the Topeka... More

Its been a while since we have been here but have been a handful of times. Great displays some interactive - something for all ages. Last I went there was a great bookstore as well. I would highly recommend for anyone ages 12 and up - under 12 may be a little overwhelmed here. More

Driving across Kansas I was in desperate need of break. Kept seeing signs for the Brown vs. Board of Education historic site and thought "why the heck not?" I am so glad I did. The museum is located in the elementary school and includes several videos (shown in the gym/auditorium turned into theater) each of which focuses on a different... More
