We have driven the Natchez Trace several times. It is a peaceful ride through the woods and history. You can get out and walk a bit in the footsteps of those who went before us. Stop along the way and learn the history of the Trace.

When the trip was proposed, I honestly did not know anything about it. The parkway was a historical trail that were taken by men who took their goods to New Orleans and then walked back home. The original trail was around 400 miles. The National Park Service, tried to preserve parts of it. I learned a lot and felt it... More

My family enjoyed exploring the Parkway. We stopped by the Visitor Center in Tupelo and watched the video. My children were able to look at a variety of animal artifacts. Everything was very hands on. The ranger, Amy, was very sweet and gave us good information on the best places to stop and the best places for a picnic. My... More

Drove a portion coming from Huntsville to Tupelo the other day. Reminded us of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Very pretty drive in the spring. Skip it if you are in a hurry because the speed limit is 50/40 for most of the length. We stopped at the Visitor center in Tupelo, there are many static displays and a nice 12... More

I love this road. I travel from Huntsville to Tupelo frequently and use the Trace. It is 50mph speed limit..60 is ok. but I have to say I don't mind going 50-55 because it is so green and a nice drive. You have to be careful of bikers (one was recently killed-so share the road people!) and of course there... More

400 miles plus of natural scenery. Many shades of green, wild turkeys, historical markers, excellent two lane road, no trucks. Plenty of rest stops, places for picnics, motorcycle heaven.

The Natchez Trace Parkway is one of several major parkways/roads, such as the Shenadoah or Blue Ridge Parkways, associated with the Nation Park Service. At 444 miles, it is possible to literally drive it in one day, but you wouldn't experience much of history associated with the parkway. Although the Parkway runs through Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi, I only visited... More

Rented a pet friendly cabin in the park...took Popi along and she had an absolute ball. The park was clean and well maintained. Not really close to any restaurants with the exception of the lodge. We had a great time.

This is a really beautiful drive. We drove the entire 444 miles. I recommend that you do the drive in 2 days. There is a lot to see along the way. I recommend that you stay in Tupelo, MS to split it up. There is a lot of history and you need to stop and see almost everything. There is... More

Simply put, you must ride the whole way, especially if your a civil war buff or just curious, many stops along the route describing the battles that took place there along with walking trails. it took us a solid week to drive it. their is many free camping spots along the route, what a treasure
