We went to see "The Importance of Being Earnest", which we had seen in other places. I think this was one of the better productions of the play. I was surprised at how good it was and was happily surprised. I have not gone to other Montford Player productions, in their normal stage space. I am lookingforward to giving it... More

a wonderful outdoor theater experience, but listen closely... sometimes the natural sounds of birds chirping could get you distracted from the scene on stage.

Montford Park Players are a summer Asheville tradition of Shakespeare in the park. The setting is a simple amphitheater in a wooded park with rustic benches or a place to bring your lawn chair. The theater company is young, enthusiastic and quite good. Costuming is creative, though not elaborate. Best of all most performances are free, though donations are encouraged... More

Say a play this past winter at the Scotish Temple downtown. Cool old building and stage with period (1900's) backdrops. The play was fun and entertaining, and you could tell the actors were having as much fun as the audience was. Still waiting to get back during warm weather to see them in Montford Park. I love to support community... More

Outdoor dramatic adventure with decent acting and stagecraft. You must bring your own seat and something to eat. Show up early for good seating. A relaxing evening when the weather permits.

A few days before Christmas, two of us went to see the MPP's rendition of "A Christmas Carol" in the Masonic Temple. There were some good performances from some in the ensemble, and the intimate setting added to the experience. Sound, lighting and sets perhaps could have done a better job of enhancing the story told, but for fifteen dollars... More

The Montford Park Players gave a very nice performance. Located in the upstairs theatre at the Masonic Lodge in downtown Asheville, the actors, sets, and lights were excellent. The costumes were a bit lacking, but overall it was a very enjoyable performance.
