We learnt about this site on the Internet and firstly visited the Information centre staffed by Rangers at Cactus Flat. The lay Ranger was fantastic and we saw a short video and then drove a few miles down the interstate where another Ranger and a volunteer who had worked there gave us an incredible tour down into the facility. and... We stopped in the off-season, on a day when there was no tour, and still thought the place was terrific. We grew up during the Cold War and passed by missile silos every day. It was very interesting to learn more about them now, as an adult, and it was really eye-opening for our teenagers. The ranger we spoke with... More

Ok so you decided to add this attraction to your Badlands visit thinking you can squeeze a measly 1 hour and be done with it. Wrong. A bit confusing but there are actually three places to drive to in order to complete this tour. And they are miles apart. First, make your reservation for your Delta 1 visit at the... More

We foumd the missile silo buy using google maps and it was a good thing we did because the road is not clearly marked. Also when driving down the road it feels like you are trustpassing. If you are a military buff then stop here. This also makes for a quick and easy stop to streatch. You can always take... More

We were on vacation and thanks to signs referring to the missle we made the stop. Wow what a site. I don't think the general public realizes that things like this are real. It has been a while since we visited and we still tell our friends of this visit. It was one of the top visits of our trip.... More

We took both the guided tour of the launch site and a self-guided tour of the missle site. Well worth the time spent visiting this little piece of American history. More

I am a little too young to remember the soviet missle crisis, but old enough to have seen the fallout shelter stickers on the walls of the school I went to in 5th and 6th grade. To see this command center and the actual missle silo and understand what was spread throughout the midwest was an experience that will not... More

An excellent tour of the facility. It is very easy to miss. Tourists can pick up tickets (free) from the Visitor Center that is right next to the entrance to Bad Lands. There's a gas station and a trading post and the visitor center is the other building there. Got a great tour from the ranger and also got to... More

Visit to understand the cold war. They show you the command center(Delta 1) where the very young men were tasked with following the order to launch a missile at the USSR with the certainity of the USSR firing one back at them. Truly amazing stuff and glad that chapter in our history is behind us. You can also visit the... More
