Claude Moore Colonial Farm park is particularly enjoyable because it is staffed with volunteers in late-18th century costumes portraying a family hard at work on their farm. The fields, animal pens, vegetable patches, cabin, root cellar, water spring and other features of the farm are authentically reproduced and used to actually perform their functions. This park is open April through... More

The highly trained "colonial" actors show you what it was really like in those times to operate and live on a real farm. Even the animals are authentic species from that time. There are many special activities appealing to children. This is a National Park that is a real gem, lost up against the CIA, whose fence is the northern... More

A working fragment of 1700's America tucked away near the GW Parkway and right under the National flight path....I whizzed past for years without a clue and only went because of my son's school trip. The staff who live and work the farm using only authentic tools, no power or plumbing, etc. are insanely dedicated. The "exhibits" (this is no... More

This place is pretty cool and I think a lot of people don't even know it's there! They do reenactment type stuff with people dressed in time period attire showing you what it was like to live back then. Their gift shop is by far the best! They have cute jewelry and homemade jams, etc. Definitely worth a visit!!

A hardly advertised attraction, but was one of the highlights of our trip to 'dc'. The farm was run as it would have been in the early settlers day. There was a 'family' 'living' there, who just got on with the family work. There were no other visitors there when we were there, it was quite magical. We were able... More
