We started from the Colorado River end and the drop-offs on the right were scary over the top. Lovely loop trip of 60+ miles and it took longer then expected because of the rough road in parts and the numerous switchbacks. Passed the top end of the Kokopelli run and would like to have joined the bikers. The highest part... More

Nice scenic views, watch for wildlife crossing the road and watch for the switchbacks. Drove down the road to the Battlegrounds where the last Cowboy and Indian battle took place and see the graves of the deceased. (wouldn't take a road bike there)

Most people drive the La Sal Loop coming from Moab - I started from Castle Valley. I liked how I could easily climb up the mountain, meanwhile being able to pull out regularly to take pictures of the Castle Valley I had just left behind. The views got better and better but unless you are a very talented photographer (unlike... More

Winds high into the mountain range. Saw a lot of deer. Cattle and sheep frequent the pass. Narrow steep trails for off roading or hiking. Take water with you.

We did a 60-mile Gran Fondo bicycle road race from Moab, out the river road, up the LaSal loop and back into Moab. Very difficult climbing in the middle section -- not for the faint of heart!

Beautiful drive but road is poorly marked. Came to a dead-end and needed a sign to help decide whether to go right or left. Of course we took the wrong way so be prepared to get lost for a time.

I love edge of cliff driving. It makes me pay attention. The scenery is lovely mountain scenery, valleys, canyons, buttes, there was even some snow left at the roadside. Newly paved sections make for a smooth drive. My GPS showed the highest altitude to which we got was 8300 feet. Also, when the temperature in Moab is 87, it's nice... More

I first saw the La Sal Mts 38 years ago on a trip to Moab in the summertime and never forgot the image. During a trip to Moab in April, we drove the La Sal Mtn Loop road and it was a wonderful experience. We started from Moab, which was a good thing as this kept us on the mountainside... More

Drove this to take a day off hiking in late March. The road is quite windy and narrow in places, but the views are amazing. The mountains had fresh snow on them so they contrasted beautifully with the rock. It is a wonderful drive for something different to do.

This loop took about an hour. The views of the valley were absolutely stunning and gorgeous. The road is winding and narrow and a little bit scarey where there are no guardrails.
