The Mission district, in my opinion, is past it's time and tripadvisor.com needs to re-evaluate it's recommendation as a place to see in "Off the Beaten Path" in SF. All we saw were homeless people, addicts and too many people without a purpose just existing in the area. My husband and I got off the bus on Mission and 16th... More

Our most recent visit to SF was our third. We've stayed just outside of town, downtown (Market Street) and Mission. On future visits, we'll definitely come back to Mission. The highlight of this trip (our first with a baby) was the walkability of the area; everything you need is within walking distance - shopping, restaurants, sightseeing. We walked as far... More

We went during Carnaval 2013. After we left the blocked off areas for Carnaval, we walked around Mission district and it was very sketchy at times. A lot of homeless people on the streets selling used goods or just mumbling to themselves. The BART station on 16th smells of urine and there are a lot of people just "hanging around"... More

On a short working trip to SF, we decided to get an apartment in the Mission District rather than stay in a Financial District hotel. What a good choice! It's my first visit to SF, and I fell in love the minute I arrived. The Mission is very vibrant, very pretty (all those pastel painted houses), scattered with loads of... More

I spent a few hours walking around and loved the back alley art & awesome food locations! My favourite food was the Clarion Murals & Balmy Murals.

We spent half a day exploring the mission district, absolutely loved it here. Wish I could have been here longer. The murals are fantastic. If you get a chance grab a burrito or go to Paxton gate or hang out at the park. The f line stops at the top of Delores, just explore from here. Cool place xx

Good restaurants, clubs, boutiques, art galleries, vintage clothing, books antiques for those who appreciate non-mainstream American culture. One of the best place in the world to eat California style Burritos. (I think they actually call them Mission style in other parts of the country. )You will not find a Starbucks here.

If you're going to San Francisco you have to visit the mission district. It's full of art, culture, and some amazing food. There's a lot of pawn stores and thrift shops that you absolutely need to stop into even if you don't have anything to buy. Delores park seems to always be a hopping place with plenty of action always... More

Absolutely loved the Mission district, I think it probably carries the Ghetto resonance and ideologies that the Castro had in days of yore but has now been gentrified and neutered. If you find yourself there and should want a tattoo look no further than the lovely Flora Cloud at Mission Ink, and tell her I sent you and give her... More

Great bargains of every sort in thrift stores, produce, luggage. Be very mindful though of theft if you have a car or bike. Fun during the day and many bars at night- very popular for 20 somethings.
