After visiting all manners of cathedrals in Europe (and here) I was surprised they charged a few to enter (well, a recommended donation). Hard to see the whole building from the street - need to back up quite a bit. Inside is very dark and hard to see. Still I am glad i stopped by, but the National Cathedral in... More

I wasn't able to go in just so you know that immediately right off the gate. I liked the outside and really enjoyed the park around it, but it is so close to a road, I felt as though you couldn't truly appreciate the church until you're able to look at it from the park which is there. I enjoyed... More

We were personally invited by the pastor to view his cathedral - and he didn't know us! Must see for the architecture and the stained glass windows.

Being from Europe where there are many cathedrals, churches from all different time periods, I like to check out the cathedrals around the world. One does not need to have a centuries old cathedral, but if there is a certain feel to it, you will remember. The Grace cathedral, although it has the replica of Ghiberti's Gates of Paradise on... Grace Cathedral is a very similar to Note dame in Paris and I really wanted to see it. We go in and I see that their is a yoga class about to start. I thought their must be a community center or something that they were holding it in. Wrong 50 people were laying in the floor playing on their... More

Grace Cathedral is such an amazing and worthwhile stop regardless of your religious background or lack thereof. Grace is peaceful and quiet with magnificent architecture overlooking Knob Hill and the Park. On a clear day views of the city are breathtaking and the outdoor Labyrinth a perfect place to gather your thoughts-inside the Cathedral another Labyrinth bridges the entry and... More

Built of reinforced concrete after the Gothic Revival style and located on California Street high on Nob Hill, this is a large, modern Cathedral. Requested entry donation is $10. In its design and features it’s strikingly eclectic both inside and out. Inside are mosaics, stained glass windows, a rose window, medieval and contemporary furnishings, three organs, an interfaith chapel, and... More

So much beauty to take in. So much history. Worth a peaceful stroll through. Do not rush yourself, visit the park across the street and enjoy the views from the benches.

We stopped off here on a tour. We spent maybe 20 minutes and could have done with a bit longer. Nice stop.

The architecture and atmosphere of this church really do touch the spirit. Set aside some time to walk the labyrinth and wander through the nooks and crannies of the place to admire the art. There are numerous paintings, sculptures, ancient Bibles, along with a corner dedicated to those lost to HIV/AIDS. I went planning to participate in a tour and... More
