Our first view of the bridge was on the Sausalito to SF ferry. We snapped some great pics. It was also a lot of fun driving over it on the open top double decker bus. You'll get an excellent view of the SF skyline. It's crazy windy though so hold on to your belongings tight!

We walked the bridge (over and back) and we were lucky to have perfect weather but the bridge and view were amazing... Certainly don't get nothing like that in Perth WA!

For a great view of San Francisco, I would recommend crossing the bridge. Although the next day it was very foggy and you couldn't even see the bridge!
