Had a family picnic up in the headlands for Mom's day. We had been having beautiful weather so were hoping for the best. Denied!! The fog was in heavy and thick and never burned off. Ok, it is a bit of a drive from San Francisco. However, once you have visited Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Park, Coit Tower etc. you should spend a few hours or the whole day at Marin Headlands - Fort Barry. This was a really easy and incredibly beautiful stop on our way into the city just before getting crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. Drive to the top. Marvel at the magnificent views to your left and at the bicyclists able to ride to the top on your right. I only wish I'd had more time and better shoes to explore... More
