I should thank ayfang for taking me there, its beatiful place and beautiful view point... its a very good place to have family picnic... we went till the light house. That is the last man operated light house in the US.

Had a family picnic up in the headlands for Mom's day. We had been having beautiful weather so were hoping for the best. Denied!! The fog was in heavy and thick and never burned off.
Still a beautiful spot for a picnic, just up the road from the visitors center and to the left. Incredible view of the Golden Gate....

Ok, it is a bit of a drive from San Francisco. However, once you have visited Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Park, Coit Tower etc. you should spend a few hours or the whole day at Marin Headlands - Fort Barry. This was a really easy and incredibly beautiful stop on our way into the city just before getting crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. Drive to the top. Marvel at the magnificent views to your left and at the bicyclists able to ride to the top on your right. I only wish I'd had more time and better shoes to explore...
