We stopped in the visitor center. The ranger there recommended the Marine Mammal Center and the beach for our afternoon visit, which we spent an hour or so at. The info desk had a docent sitting, who was happy to tell us a lot of facts about sea lions and sea otters and seals. The beach was incredibly windy and... More

I saw a California Gold episode where Huell went out to the Point Bonita Lighthouse so I was excited when we were able to walk in his steps! If you go to the Marin Headlands, plan your visit for when the tunnel and bridge to the lighthouse are open.

Amazing views of the impressive Golden Gate Bridge and majestic San Francisco Bay but it can get busy with tourists everywhere. Don't forget your camera for those once in a lifetime shots!

Bring a jacket even in the summer. Get out of the car and hike up the hills. It's amazing to breath such fresh air. The view is amazing!!

On a Tuesday around noon we drove across the GG Bridge to the first exit Alexander Ave & headed west to Conzelman Road. You will see a sign for Marin Headlands Coastal Route. The route is very scenic with winding roads & amazing views of SFO & GG Bridge. There are many areas to pull off & get great pictures.... More

The Marin Headlands provide fantastic views of the GG Bridge, SF Bay and SF...even when it's foggy! Make sure to drive all the way to the top for one view and then back down stopping at all the pull offs for different views. The views are all impressive but in particular make sure to park and walk out to the... More

this is the only place that you need to go if interested in getting those picture perfect shots with the golden gate bridge. Plus they offer camping sites along the way here.

the headlands is a place where you'll see a lot fewer people than any other viewing place of the Golden Gate. it's windy, and cold. forget it when there's fog. when it's clear, it's still windy and cold but amazingly beautiful. no food places, no muzak, nothing but birds, and a few other people. a great place for looking back... Gorgeous views, incredible scenic drive or bike, not too crowded. Saw deer and other wildlife, great views and end your loop in Sausilito.
