Having been to the Exploratorium on numerous occasions in their former location, I was excited to visit their new and expanded site. The new building on the Embarcadero seems to go on and on once you're inside, and visitors of all ages will find a mind-boggling assortment of hands-on and interactive stations demonstrating the wonders of the physical world (color,... An immense array of interactive exhibits on all manner of things. It could take days to enjoy all the fun things to do and see. EG: We could take a picture of our face on a screen, then press a button and the screen would show 2 faces of ourselves side by side. One was with the projection of 2... More

This has always been my favorite thing to do in San Francisco and now it's even better. I could spend days there and never get bored. It's just the best. Not to be missed, especially with kids.

Some friends of mine invited me to the "friends and family" private opening of the new (and greatly expanded) Exploratorium a few weeks ago. Recently moved to its new location on the Embarcadero of San Francisco, close to the other tourist attractions like The Ferry Building, Pier 29 and Fisherman's Wharf, the new location take up an entire former pier,... Great time looking through hundreds of cool displays, games, and experiments. We learned so much in a little bit of time, and it was a great way to spend a half day...we could have stayed for 2 days if we had time!

The new Exploratorium is such an improvement from the old location. A number of new exhibits have been added and the Bay really features prominently both from a science an aesthetic point of view. This is a terrific place to bring the kids for a hands on science experience. It is also great fun for adults who enjoy science and... More

This place was swarming with kids. Unless you want to fight off children to explore the hands on exhibits--don't go! This is not geared to adults who are traveling sans children. If you are traveling with children, be prepared for the crowds.

While this is a hands on place for over active kids and brain kids adults will like being here because it is designed to be 100% kid friendly. No matter how over active your kids are they will have a great time here with no staff member arching a eyebrow or pointing a finger at your kids. Plus the food... More

This type of science thing doesn’t usually interest me, but I went because entry was included in my City Pass. I thoroughly enjoyed it!! It’s quite big with lots of experiments and hands on things. I would highly recommend the TOUCH DOME!! It’s so much fun! You need to purchase tickets for it (it was only US$7 for city pass... More
