This is a must for first time visitors to SF. Book your ticket well in advance because they can sell out quickly and take the first ferry of the day (the early bird, which isn't really that early). Very well done tour. Lots of walking up hills, but they have a small tram available for those who would struggle to get up to the prison. We booked about 3-4 weeks in advance. Good thing we did, because they were sold out every time we went past the pier. More

Have been on 3 trips to Alcatraz- 2 during the day and 1 night trip. I loved all of them! The night was my favorite- purposely tried to make it a little spooky :) More

We spent $33 on this tour and it was WELL worth it. The tour is an audio tour and is given by former inmates and guards. Everyone we were with loved it. There were lots of people, but they spread it out so it didn't seem super crowded. Bring your walking shoes, its a long walk and its pretty hilly... More
