This is on the historic walking tour of Lahaina, although it is away from Front Street and has parking, so you may wish to drive (especially if it is hot out). The Mission is lovely. Bring your camera and enjoy this very serene space. Don't forget to ring the bell and drop a few dollars in the donations bin. Besides... More

This lovely mission was like taking a step into Japan. The tradition bell tower is immense. The temple is filled with intricate carvings all gilted or painted red. The grounds make every picture "perfect." This is a quiet place to go for reflection. They also celebrate the fun and rousing ABON ceremony every fall. Not to be missed! More

This is a lovely spot to see the ocean and the temple grounds. You can walk to it from downtown Lahaina. It is also fairly close to the Safeway and Long's Drugs. It is hidden behind a residential area but well worth seeking out. More

Surprised to see the largest budda outside Japan just sitting in this little park on the North side of Lahiana. Well worth the time to see it. More

We went and had the whole temple to ourselves. Right next to the ocean and a busy city but as you enter it gets quiet. Very Zen. Worth a 30 minute visit More

We always like to spend some time here each time we visit. I see that since our last visit that they have done some repairs on the Buddha - well needed. The cemetery across from the Mission is for Japanese workers who came over to work in Maui many years ago. What a shame it is in such disrepair -... More

Improvements to this mission were undertaken in the early 1970's, by a Japanese businessman who developed the Kaanapali Alii condominium. It is still a nicely maintained spot in Lahaina to visit, although the adjacent beachside cemeteries need some TLC and attention. More
