Dwight Baldwin who is credited for saving the people of Maui, Molokai and Lanai from the scourge of smallpox during the terrible epidemic of 1853. The home itself, its household furniture, aged photographs, artifacts, displays and library present a fascinating picture of the busy Sandwich Isles life as lived by a missionary who was both a physician and a constructive community force. « less

While visiting the Baldwin Home, I saw some tourists turn away because of a high-ish entry fee. Do visit if you can--the Home is one of the best reconstructions of 19th Century family life I've seen. The home really tells the tale of Lahaina and the early American presence in Hawaii. More

The candle light tour is awesome. I've been through this historic home many, many times. I always take guests. Between learning about the islands and visiting historic sights what is left is the beach. More

It wasn't all that exciting, but it was only $5 to see an original dwelling and furnishings, so worth it to us. I enjoyed talking more with the tour guide about the history of Hawaiians. More

Ok, it's small and doesn't take that long to look round, but it's fascinating if you like history. So much family stuff remains from that time - we were fascinated by the 'bathroom' and trembled in horror at the 'dentist instruments'. We were entranced by the children's (tiny) croquet set and loved the list of charges for various ills aches... More

The Baldwin Mission Home on Front Street isn't very big but offers an excellent look at early missionary life in Hawaii. There are only three or four rooms and you can't go upstairs, but the artifacts are interesting and the price is reasonable (about $5 for two). There aren't a lot of other opportunities to have that "Colonial Williamsburg" type... More

Whenever we go to Maui, we always go to the Baldwin home to see Emma, the doll. She has an aspirin tablet head. Can we start an Emma fan club? More

The Baldwin family did not interest us. The woman giving the tour was nice, but she didn't make it interesting, and she spoke only of the family. I was expecting a little Hawaiian history to be included, but that was not a part of this museum. It wasn't expensive to get in, thankfully, but the woman rambled on , and... More
