So this was my first time ever surfing and the fact that I was able to get up and do it successfully on the FIRST ATTEMPT speaks loads to the effectiveness of this company, its instructors, and the quality of the instruction you receive. our instructor, Josh, was fantastic. He trained us well on the beach, and when we hit... More

Many thanks to the staff at Royal Hawaiin Surf Academy in Lahaina, especially Tavner, our most excellent instructor. My husband and I and our two kids (ages 12 and 9) took a 2 hour lesson off the beach right in Lahaina and we all had an awesome morning out surfing! Tavner was especially great with our 9 year old daughter,... More

I knew that if there was one thing that I KNEW my brother (17 years old) and I (23) needed to do on Maui, it was learn to surf. Tavner was a great teacher and he really took the time to prepare us before we hit the water so that we knew all of the right techniques and basic form... More

My wife and I went paddle surfing with Ikaika and he was top notch. Just really laid back, easy going and talked to us a lot about growing up in Maui. Paddle Surfing is not that demanding but was a good time and we saw sea turtle and fish. I would definately recommend them and Ikaika is a good guy.... More

My wife's 50 birthday present - trip to Maui and surfing lessons on her birthday. The guys were great, organization and friendly. Our instructor JOSH did a great job explaining, coaching, teaching and ensuring we got up easily in the water. Make sure you tip these guys they work hard and buy the CD from Ric for great pictures of... More

I looked these guys uo whilst in Lahaina, based on the strong reviews. I was not disappointed. I took a private lesson in the morning and I was standing up on the second attempt. I had one lesson prior to this in Cape Verde and in the whole time I did not get near standing up till at the end.... More

My wife and I wanted to check out some surf lessons while on Maui and were directed to the Royal Hawaiian. What an awesome experience! Tavner was a great instructor and had us up and surfing in no time at all. It was supposed to be a two hour lesson, but went probably closer to 3 hours. Tavner was so... More

I am a 63 year old female and have wanted to learn to paddle board for the last 4 years. Mau is an excellent instructor! He even took pictures of me with my waterproof camera that were far superior to the ones taken by the companies photographer. I Highly reccommend Mau at Royal Hawaiian.
