Wish we had a 4 wheel drive so we could have driven down to the parking lot, it would have saved us 1.6 miles that weren't that interesting. The view of the canyon you get on this hike is worth the energy you'll spend getting there. You go a little further and see the falls. The terrain is really interesting... More

The trail gets a little tricky in places, and if you are nervous about heights, this might not be a good choice, but the views are so incredible. This trail is what it implies, giving great views of Waimea Canyon. Allow enough time to enjoy the views. More

We had a great day in the Waimea, driving around, stopping to look at the view different view points and hiking. We chose Canyon Trail (Waipo'o Falls) which was spectacular... we picnic'd on the waterfall which overlooked the Waimea Canyon. Can't be beat! The trail was not too difficult; but if it had been rainy, I could see how the... More

I've never hiked before and at 25 years old I thought I was in good enough shape to try a moderate trail. No regrets about going on this one. It's about a 3-4 mile hike round trip that ends at a waterfall. The waterfall itself isn't worth the somewhat physically demanding hike. It's all the scenic views of the canyon... More

The Canyon Trail is pretty easy to find. It's on Waimea Canyon Rd. between mile markers 14 and 15. It's 3.5 miles round trip and takes about 2 hours if you're in average shape. It leads to Waipoo Falls, which we felt wasn't the best waterfall. I wouldn't recommend doing the canyon trail simply to see the falls, but really... More

This trail is really cool because when you are driving the hwy to waimea canyon you are able to see one side of the canyon, but this trail takes you to the other side and you are able to see a more natural view of the canyon. It just feels bigger. This isn't a very difficult trail. It took us... More

My husband and I took this hike last week with our family - couple teenage girls and couple twenty year olds. Everyone enjoyed the hike immensely - moderately strenuous is good description - gives you a bit of a workout climbing up hills, over roots, up "stairs". It is so worth it when you reach the canyon views and the... More

Trekked the Canyon Trail and really enjoyed it. We reached the cliff and crossed over to the top of the waterfall which was gorgeous. We had a little trouble navigating and were unsure as to whether we were missing other views because the trail wasn't well marked, but what we did see was well worth the climb. More
