The little museum is so informative, as are the staff. We had hoped to hike, but the trails were impassable due to the recent hard rains.

Long, golden sand beach - hardly anyone there - it was absolutely beautiful! It's a bit of a drive, but well worth it.

My girlfriend and I went to Polihale today and were blown away by the miles of beautiful beaches framed by the towering black and red cliffs of the Napali Coast to the north. The beach is beautiful and there weren't many people on it relative to its size. The water was great and the sand sloped gently into the sea,...

You have to drive for a while on dirt roads to get here, but it's worth is. We were staying at the Pacific Range Missile Facility, so it was only a 20 min drive for us. It's the end of the highway on the southwest side of the island. Lovely.

The locals told us to go here...we did and we were so happy. We now call it "our beach." You have to travel 4.8 miles on a bumpy dirt road to get to the beach....but it's worth it. If you are anywhere near the west side of the island you MUST experience the beach at Polihali State Park.

The road was a little sketchy at first, but the beach was beautiful, the most sandy beach I found on kauai. The waves were pretty rough and knocked me over constantly, but amazing water temps and crystal blue water trumped the waves.

Who knew such a gorgeous place would be close to a Missile Range? The little dirt road off of HIghway 50 is bumpy, but after five miles you are in paradise. The three-mile beach is just stunning, but the ocean is treacherous, and you should be a good swimmer if you are going out to swim. Queen's Pond, about 3...

Awesome beach everyone must see. Don't let the road scare you away.

The drive to Polihale is plagued with bumps, potholes and other inconveniences, but as long as you have 4 wheel drive, you should be fine. Tip; tell your driver to drive slowly. This allows for more reaction time before a pothole to avoid either hitting the pothole or slamming the brakes and making everyone in the car tense and possibly...
