We recently went through an extensive renovation to 18 (Oceans & Lakes Nines) of our 27 holes (Woods Is Still Open But Was Not Renovated). The new 18 was opened in January of 2010 and is now know as the Makai Course. The new and improved championship Makai course is a breath taking par-72 at over 7,200 yards. We proudly boast some of the most epic ocean/mountain views Hawaii golf has to offer. « less

This complaint is not about just this golf course but all golf courses on the Hawaiian Islands. Did you know that they chare three times the price that local residence pay. For example if they pay $50 you get to pay $150! I complained to the Kauai County management official and he said it because it’s a privilege to play... More

The recent renovation of the Makai golf course is now mature. Excellent grass and putting surfaces. The white sand is still a bit soft allowing more plugged lies than I would like. Great views on several holes, we often found ourselves watching whales rather than putting out. The course is very playable for all levels of golfing skill. Check with... More

The course has been re-done with new sand. Some of the holes have been contoured and are pleasing to the eye. Of course the wind always comes into play. Fun course More

The Makai course was one of the top 5 conditioned courses I have ever played, which is probably partially due to the climate in this area. Views were spectacular with a few holes backing up to/hitting over the ocean, and the course was challenging yet playable. Although I did not play the Prince course in Kauai, I was told the... More

This course in my personal opinion was much more playable than The Prince course down the road. It was also cheaper and was available on EZlinks.com for far cheaper while the The Prince course was only on GOLFNOW and no cheaper than if you were staying at one of the resorts. Challenging, fun and it had more ocean views than... More

Not a great golfer. But with views like this it doesn't matter. Good deal on rented clubs and shoes. More

Golfing friends say this is a great and challenging course as well as being very scenic in every direction and at every hole. We actually live right on the course and collect about 10 stray golf balls which hit the house, every week. So far, no broken windows. The pathways offer excellent walking with views but only early morning and... More

Pace of play was extremely slow and staff corrected the problem after calling the clubhouse. Could not get timely service at the snack bar and beverage card did not appear until 18th hole. Also played Kauai Lagoons -- worth the drive from Princeville, More

Makai has 3 nines. Two are generally put together for 18 hole players, and the view from the Ocean course is spectacular, with challenges for all skill levels. Price is a bit steep during morning, but goes down in afternoon, and if you're lucky enough to get one of the tee times on www.EZlinks.com, you'll save a bundle, but they... More
