Once in a lifetime trail. Beautiful, scenic, and amazing. Not matter what your physical shape, age, etc... consider making this truly magnificent trail. I would rate it as the number one thing to accomplish in Kauai.

While there's no question that this trail offers interesting scenery and historical sights, it is poorly marked and you never quite know if you're on or off the trail. Also none of the locals seemed to know either!

Many parts on the route are nice with good ocean views, but some parts are along the roadside shoulder with little room to walk. Other areas the path is not clear on which way it goes.

Easily accessible, great trail, fantastic views. Go early, there are few people. amazing sunrise, and cooler temperatures.

My accommodations at Turtle Cove Suites were just a few minutes drive from Old Koloa Town. I found myself stopping there frequently for groceries (the supermarket at the end of town is best), souveniers, pizza, etc. One day they had a fruit market with vendors all-too-happy for conversation. Buy some of those fantastic local oranges!
