We enjoyed the two hour surfing lesson taught by Treston very much! He was encouraging and patient and helpful. It wasn't as hard as it looks to get up although it is a great upper body workout and you should be sure to apply plenty of sunscreen to the backs of your legs. These instructors teach everyone, young and old. They are very patient and try hard to be sure everyone has a safe, but fun time. You will be tired at the end!

Yes there are rocks at the end of the end of the beach where the lessons take place, but you have plenty of time to turn around before that. These guys were very dedicated and got our 6, 9 and 12 year old daughters up surfing so quickly. The waves in this part of the beach are perfect to learn...

The surf school is run out of a tent on Poipu Beach. The instructor was fun and got all three of us to ride the waves (10 year old son and my wife and I). We did have a little issue with the equipment, but our instructor quickly resolved that.
