There's both a walking and a bus tour. Take the bus tour! It comes with a wonderful lecture and lots of info about Kauai. This is most stop while on Kauai.
Definitely take this tour! The Banyan trees alone are worth the visit. Our guide was wonderful and let me lag behind to take photos which I appreciated. It's a special place, almost magical.
Allerton Gardens is so fantastic. I frequent Kauai often over the years and I have been to the gardens about 4 times. It is exquisitley beautiful with its plantings, sculptures, and pavilions. It is nothing short of magical with its large exotic trees (part of the original Jurassic Park was filmed here). You can clearly see how this was the... More
Allerton's Gardens 2.5 mile walking tour is a hidden gem past the craziness of Spouting Horn. When living on the island in the 70's we used to scale down the cliff and sit on the beautiful beach, once a Hawaiian Village. The tour now is very upscale with a A/C bus ride in and our tour guide was from New... More
A garden preserved by Rob Allerton who created this “Art” garden for his enjoyment and now for the enjoyment of everyone who visits. Each garden room has specific instructions for the caretakers to ensure each room looks the same in perpetuity. Each room is designed to guide your eyes either up to the canopy or to the sides of the... More
We toured the Allerton Gardens during a break in the rainy weather last week. We were delighted to find that the guided tour was an entertaining and relaxing way to spend several hours. Allerton Gardens is composed of a succession of outdoor "rooms", each with it's own unique theme, story and setting. Intertwined in the experience is the fascinating and... More
These gardens are by tour only(visit the McBryde if you don't want to be on tour). You take a 20 minute bus ride to the garden location and the total time you are gone is about 3 hours.. Ryan was a great guide, very knowledgeable and fun. Keep in mind this is not a flower garden, but has some of... More
We thought this was a bit expensive at $35 each for a two and a half hour tour, but decided to try it. We were very pleased. The gardens and water features are amazing. Also, the bamboo area was very interesting. I liked the statues also. You take a bus for a few minute ride from the visitor center to... More
Being from IL and having been to Allerton Park in IL, I wanted to visit the garden in HI. The tour was very good but could have very easily been self guided and a bit shorter. I work in the landscaping field and enjoyed the tour a great deal but my husband was slightly bored with the tour. I could... More
Walking distance from the Lawai Beach Resort and the Spouting Horn. The Allerton Garden provides a tour guide with both walking and bus travel. An interesting mix of exotic plant life and fruit-bearing trees, which are sampled by the tour. A little expensive, but, remember, you are on Kauai, The Garden Isle. Highly recommended.
