This is one you can miss. The operator states that the boat takes you out to see the lava but from where we ended up looking, it could've been the twinkly lights of SF from Alcatraz if we didn't know. It wasn't cheap and what was more disappointing was that he didn't really share much information as a local even....

Lava Roy is the best. I have been out with him 4 times. He is very careful and cautious. Extremely knowledgable about Hawaii and the ocean. I can’t wait till the lava hits the ocean again so I can go for the 5th time.

If you are going to book a lava boat tour contact them ahead of time to make sure the lava is reaching the ocean. Second book your tour with Lava Roy. He was a great tour guide. We went on the sunset tour and the ocean was crazy rough, but he definitely knew what he was doing. It was difficult...
