Head down on a Sunday, Wednesday or Friday and take advantage of "Ocean Sports" special days. $25 gets you use of all of the beachside activities including a glass bottom boat tour. That is $5 less than they charge for a half hour of paddle boarding alone.

The 2011 Tōhoku tsunami destroyed several palm trees, sent sand into an ancient fishpond and deposited more sand into the Bay. Snorkelers with confidence swim over the rocky formations to the north and south of the Bay. In the morning, this is a nice family spot, especially for children and adults who want to swim or float. Beach chairs are... More

A beautiful place to end your day on the West side of the Big Island, with beautiful sunset, loads of coconut palms, and a trail where you can walk along the ocean. For a more distant look at it, go to the terrace of the Marriott Waikoloa.

The best deal on the island is "Aloha Fridays" on A-Bay! For $25 per person you can use any of the beach toys from 10am-2pm. They have stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, water bikes, outrigger canoe rides, and glass-bottom boat rides. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 hours of fun! Also, bring some bread to feed the eels that are in the fishpond... More

This is the closest beach in Waikoloa and therefore convenient if you are staying there. We liked the water whcih was calm and you could snorkle. There wasn't much there this April but I've seen turtles there before. Great asset is the Lava Lava Club where you can eat if you didn't take a picnic. Very nice

Quiet stretch of beach near resort area. Late afternoon near Lava Lava Beach club saw turtles (>8) feasting on algae on the rocks by the beach.

We read a review which said this was a great place to watch a glorious sunset. It was a lovely setting though the weather conditions weren't great the night we were able to go but still worth visiting. We did get to see an Eagle Ray which had somehow managed to get into a pond just away from the ocean.
