You will read many review about this attraction. If you are healthy DO NOT HESITATE,. First the crew is really professional and know what they are doing. They love their job and the volcano which they know a lot about so ask them questions. Yes, the sea is rough (we had a calm morning, we were lucky) but they do... More

My husband and 3 children, ages 12, 11, and 9 did this trip on June 11th. We were staying in Kona and had planned a day at Volcano National Park and decided to go ahead and do this on the east side of the island so that we didn't have to drive back (it's a 2-2.5hr drive from Kona) another... More

We booked this boat tour, then changed all of our plans for that day to get to the boat dock on time. We waited there, in the rain for over an hour with several other couples and no one showed up. One customer called and was finally told that the tour had been cancelled due to high surf. Other tour... More

I booked this before looking at the reviews here, and once I read them I was a little nervous the company wasn't professional. However, of course I realised it wasn't going to be a dinner cruise. My main concern was that they weren't going to show up ( based on the reviews here). They did, right on time. They gave... More

We knew going into this it was going to be a choppy and wet ride, so we came prepared. It was dark when we left the harbor, and seeing the steam and glowing lava entering the water was mind-blowing. The captain was absolutely skilled and incredible getting us as close as 30' to the lava flowing into the ocean. We... More

Rough seas! Boat crashing up and down like white water rafting! Wind blown sea caking your face in salt sea! Billowing hot steam! Heat! Fumes! High speed (20 knots or more perhaps) wive riding across the ocean! And of course hot flowing lava splashing into the sea, from a view you won't find anywhere else on the planet! Adventure and... The water was rough.. It says that on the website, everyone knew that.. That was fun actually. But I'm sure they don't bargain rough waters into the steep price. What I'm really really disappointed about was the 10-12 minutes of lava time. Thats all you get. 2 pass by's on each side. I was still trying to get my camera... More

yes I too have circumnavigated Lanai but no active lava flows to be seen and most tours leave from powder puff harbors like Mala Wharf or Lahaina on inflatable rafts. Consider your other options to get out on ocean to view these flows and Im sure that you'll see that our outfit is by far the premiere option. As for... More

If you don't like roller coasters, you might want to see the lava a different way. We met the boat at 5:30am (usually mornings are calmer) and paralleled the shoreline for ~1/2 hour. The boat captain was very experienced navigating the boat so close to the flowing lava....and we have the photos to prove it!

Did the 8 pm tour a lot of fun! 12 year old went with us was never concerned with safety. If u want to get close to lava entering the sea this is for you! Feel the heat and hear the popping of rocks! You will get soaked take a poncho! It is costly but we felt the experience was... More

The Lava Ocena Adventures company is not reliable at all.... The first time they cancelled our trip was due to the high tide - ok, I get it.... But we rebooked it, had it confirmed,,,,, and no one showed up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They don't take business seriously and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone I know. They work only when they feel...
