Totally enjoyed the easy loop walk and the falls. Great opportunity for picture taking of both Akaka and Kahuna Falls and the lovely torch ginger plants. We also met some really nice people from Australia. One gentleman "rescued" my sunglasses that had fallen out of reach for my husband. Mahalo to my friend and hero!

This is a beautiful waterfall requiring a short (for me) walk through a tropical forest. The walk itself is beautiful. A must see!

Saw the falls on a rainy day. The vegetation, plants and trees, and the view of the falls is spectacular. Well worth the drive to it.

This is one of the easiest waterfall walks we have done (other than the quick stop at rainbow falls). The fee is very reasonable ($1 per person) and there are great places to stop and take photos. Check out the Banyan Tree, you can walk down inside it from above and look up at the trunks from the inside.

easy to see why this is so popular, no long hike required and yet so lovely. Can highly recommend! Definite must stop!

Get incredible views of this 450 foot falls (or something like that). You can't get down to the bottom. There is a paved path and steps that take you on a loop around the lush gulch that this river pours through. $1.00 to enter if you park outside the gate, $5.00 if you park inside. You won't need more than... More

Beautiful drive. Park in the parking lot, you have to pay $5, but it is very convenient and there is a bathroom. Take a short or longer easy "hike" through the rain forest to view the falls. It's a quick little excursion to see this beautiful waterfall.

Akaka Falls is not to be missed. Brought a friend visiting and she was equally impressed with the easy-to-walk walkways and the coolness while doing so. Make sure you go and then walk through the same town Honomu for great food and shops.

I loved the garden feel but I didn't like the steep walk down to the bottom and up again. You actually walk down through a tunnel of broad leafed trees. There's an adequate handrail for you but this is not quite suited to the handicapped person. You get the feel that you are all alone and it's so very screne... More

The Akaka Falls were breathtaking, taller than the Niagara Falls. You do have to walk to view them, but it's a paved walkway which requires a little exertion. There is another trail you can take so you have a better view of Kahuna Falls, but we didn't take it because we were warned of the mosquitoes. The cost is $5... More
