Visited April 11, 2013, 10:30 am Keep in mind, that the Kona Historical Society has two physical locations 1) Kona Coffee Living History Farm and 2) Greenwell Farm Museum location. The location of the Stone Oven, where they cook the Portuguese Sweet Bread is the Greenwell Farm location. Every Thursday from about 11:00 am, the volunteers as well as visitors... More

My husband and I really enjoyed this tour. It was very interesting and most informative about life in the 1890s. A wonderful tour for the whole family. The Portuguese Bread is out of this world. It's only available on Thursdays, usually sold out by 1pm The staff and volunteers at both places are very friendly and love sharing the history.

Some years ago we had visited the Greenwell store , run by the Kona Historical Society, a no profit organization with the aim of keeping the old Hawai’i an traditions alive. Very interesting. This year we visited their living coffee farm. We were first greeted by a lovely lady , who was very warm and welcoming; we were also offered... More

For people who love to learn the history of places they visit, this is the perfect tour for you. For a nominal fee of $7/person, you will experience an interesting look into an English family's life on the island during the end of the 1800's. Part of the tour is actually shopping in the general store that was run by... More

I highly reccommend a visit to the Greenwell Store. It is very interesting to learn of the history of this family and how they affected the area of Kona to increase prosperity for so many. The guide was excellent. The displays are also excellent. It is a fascinating story about how they lived in those earlier days. We learned a... More

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our morning at the H.N. Greenwell Store Museum which is run by the Kona Historical Society. We learned so much about the history of this area (the Kona side of the Big Island) that we have driven through many times. Now we have a deeper appreciation for Kona. The experience inside the store/museum was... More

We recently toured the Greenwell Store Museum, part of the Kona Historical Society. Our docent was very well informed about the pioneer history of the area and the Greenwell family. The store has been carefully restored and stocked with items that would have been for sale in its heyday. Well worth a visit!
