In the tavern and adjacent beer garden, local and Wisconsin-brewed beers are served in an authentic, German atmosphere. On Fri/Sat/Sun, guests can participate in historic tours through the refurbished parts of the building. Tours are at 1 pm and 3 pm. Cost is $7 and Military Personnel receive a $2 discount. The tour fee includes a souvenir piece of Pabst history. With the closing of the Pabst Brewery in 1996 came the opening of an opportunity. After many years of blood, sweat, and beers, the "best use" of these buildings has fermented into Best Place at the historic Pabst Brewery -- taking its name from the founders, Jacob and Phillip Best, and its spirit from the Captain, Frederick Pabst. In December 2009, the vintage gift shop re-opened its doors and since May 2010, beer is served again at the bars in historic Blue Ribbon Hall and the Sternewirt Guest Center. « less

Best Place is a history lesson on Pabst, and a chance to drink some PBR and see some great old buildings in the old heart of brewing in Milwaukee. The tour guide (and owner), Jim, really has a passion for the place and knows a lot of history about the Best family, Captain Pabst, and the development of PBR over... More

As a PBR fan this review maybe biased. The old buildings are amazing, a must see for any beer enthusiast. I was amazed to see the owner giving the tour, and thought he did an outstanding job. Thanks for preserving this wonderful piece of American history. More

Went here for a tour during the Brewer home opener game, so needless to say, our group was very small. I was pleasantly surprised to find the owner was the one giving the tour. I found it very informative & fun. It felt more like you were at a friend's house 7 they were showing you a bunch of cool... More

I love history and I love beer. Put them together and you get best place at the historic pabst brewery. Really cool place. Enjoyed the tour very much. Very cool that the property owner is so involved. His knowledge on bad beers and malt liquors were not the best, but I'll give him a pass for having schlitz and pabst... More

First off, most of the tours are given by the property owner, which gives guests an interesting perspective into the the history of the building. Keep in mind that the tour does not include a tour of the brewing of the beer as Pabst is not brewed by Pabst anymore. The tour does include a fantastic history lesson of the... More

This was the first stop on a Milwaukee pubcrawl for 54 members of Club Wort, an IL homebrew club. We couldn't have been more pleased with the tour and overall friendly atmoshere at this historic landmark. I can only hope that the buidlings can someday be restored to their original brilliance. Thanks again for the hospitality!! Cheers!! More

This a a great history tour of the old Pabst brewery gathering areas. The tour starts with beer (yes, it is great) and then moves into the history of Pabst and brewing in Milaukee. Experience the great turn of the century beer halls and the incredible architecture of Captain Pabst's operation. Every other tour will show you a brew process.... More

The Pabst tour was very informative and worth going just to see the old buildings. Most of the original brewery buildings are gone, but some are still there, and the owner of these runs the tour. There is a great gift shop with all kinds of cool items and you can even get some Pabst and Schlitz at the bar. A great... More
