Take the tour. You will never do anything wrong again because you will not want to go to prison after you visit a real prison. It is not like the prisons that you see on TV. This is real even though there are no longer prisoners there. Everyone should go.. More

Loved the old architecture and interesting tour. Sad that the town isn't much now that the penitentiary is closed. More

Our whole family enjoyed seeing how inmates lived in the crowded and violent prison. We all could see that survival in that prison would be a daily ongoing struggle. The tour took... More

My girlfriend and I loved the tour, we were visiting from Canads and decided it was something we wanted to see. The tour guide was great lots of good stories but best of all we had a former inmate on our tour who was showing his family were he did 19 years in the 70's and 80's. We couldn't have... More

Knowing some about the place, I thought this would not be all that special, but whether you do a standard tour, or the ghost tours or the wonderful Halloween House, make the effort. Great place, good prices. More

I'd been wanting to do an overnight ghost hunt here for years, and finally got around to it last April. Tickets for the overnight stays book up quick, so I recommend planning early and buying when they go on sale each January. The first part of the evening, a tour guide takes you through the building (which is pitch dark,... More
