This museum and the surrounding grounds are a nice place to take a break during a long drive through the area. I would not drive specifically to see this museum, but if in the area- an excellent one hour stop. More

A bit pricy for the whole family. Unfortunatly much of their native american exhibit was stolen. Still I found the history of the builder and the exhibits worth the time. More

We came here after seeing a special on OPB about the Columbia Gorge and Sam Hill. Sam Hill was a rich eccentric who fell in love with the Gorge and built a beautiful mansion for his wife- who didn't want to live anywhere outside of the Midwest. Her loss is now our gain after Sam gave up pleasing his wife... More

A world class art museum, located out in a remote section of the Columbia River Gorge, off of Hwy 14. Easy access from Hwy 84 on Oregon Side of Columbia River. Who says you have to go to the big city for a world class art display? They are opening their new expansion in a few weeks. Can't wait to... More

There is a lot to see and do. You should allow 2-3 hours minimum. There are rotating exhibits that come and go - we saw an Andy Warhol exhibit that was amazing. There is also an art show there every summer that is worth the trip. More

Maryhill Museum is one of the outstanding museums in the Northwest. Located overlooking the Columbia River, the castle and the story of Sam Hill and his women is itself amazing. Then you have the second largest Rodin collection on the West Coast, the Theatre de la Modenexhibit, a sculpture gardens and peacocks! Don't miss. Open March 15-Nov. 15. Admission rates... More

We loved the area for views. The museum has lovely grounds for strolling. Interesting art objects. Guidebooks overstate the "gourmet cafe" so expectations don't match: museum-pricey, plastic cutlery, etc., just a nice place to snack and rest while at the museum. Not a destination for "cafe and art" until the new cafe is ready? I wish there was more of... More

The museum is housed in the former mansion of Sam Hill a railroad millionaire. The collection consists of furniture and jewlery of Queen Marie of Romania, an eclectic mix of paintings, Theatre da la Mode (fashion dolls), Rodin, chess sets and several other collections. Together they make a very interesting collection and fun viewing. Definitely worth viewing if you are... More
