See the short movie before taking the house tour. Tours run every half hour. Worth stopping by. We learned a lot about the Rockefellers and the redevelopment of Williamsburg.

Really enjoyed visiting. A look back three hundred years. It did take a little effort to find the entrance.

Enjoyed this museum. Collection started in the '30's by Ms AAR. A lady ahead of her time. She understood the need to protect Americana art. Extensive collection of paintings, china, silver, cabinetry, quilts, weaponry, musical instruments, and every day utilitarian items. Guides available and very helpful. Small cafe, convenient restrooms, gift shop.

The exhibit has been moved from Bassett Hall to the DeWitt Wallace. The exhibit is more 'sterile' in its new location and less intimate.

If you have had enough of touring colonial houses, try this museum for a well organized exhibit of pieces of America craft by the everyday persons living in the last few centuries. Furthermore, if the weather is too hot or cold, it is a perfect place to cool down or warm up. A small cafe in the building. Special exhibits... More

This museum is manageable size-wise if you bring children. Bring younger children to the craft workshops - you will learn something too! Friendly workshop leaders.

I expected more. I was disappointed in the collection. Very small number of pieces and overall, the museum seemed uninspired. Looked to be an ode to the namesake, rather than folk art. Quilts were lovely, but Curators should begin to rotate in more eclectic pieces to drive curiosity and excitement about folk art. Check out the brilliance of the Museum... More
