We traveled by train to Hausach and followed the signs to the public bus #7150 right outside the train station that took us to the Vogtsbauernhof. The bus ride was only 15-20 minutes and stops right at the entrance to the museum. Our Baden-Wurttemberg group train ticket also covered the bus. Outside the museum proper, there is a restaurant and... More

We were reccomended this museum by a friend of ours who lives locally & it did not disapoint us. The Museum has different houses from parts of The Black Forrest and has demsonstrations of scnapps making, bread making & basket weaving whilst we were there. The houses were interesting but there was not a great deal of information on the... More

what a great institution. The open air museum has collected important buildings and aranged various mills (oil, corn, saw-mills) around a river run. The buildings were all accessible and rooms were furnished wiht museums quality of painted beds. Smoking rooms and wine making was shown by Museums staff. Best Blackforest cake ever - and we sampeled many places on our... More

Spent a great half day at this wonderful open air museum. Most of the buildings have been relocated her, but it was hard to tell. All are beautifully preserved, both outside and inside. A fascinating glimpse of rural Black Forest life up until quite recently. Good onsite facilities with restaurants, plenty of toilets, a children's playground and farm animals for... More

We were on a family holiday with two teenage daughters (14) and visited this open air museum on a whim and much to my daughters' annoyance. Yet, we all really enjoyed it. It is a good attraction to spend either a morning or afternoon at, if not longer. The site is clearly laid out and and the buildings give you... More

On our Avalon Rhine River Cruise, we stopped at the Black Forest Open Air Museum as part of our Black Forest Optional Excusion. The museum was interesting & it was great to walk around and see the various buildings (it was a beautiful day). Although interesting, we didn't think it was worth the price we paid for our optional Black... More

This open air museum is a great way to learn about the history of Black Forest farming. The kids love running around the old farm houses and checking out what's inside. See more - http://www.travelingbunch.com/blog/2011/06/black-forest-fun-germany-with-kids.html More

Our morning adventure was a spontaneous trip to the local Black Forest Museum, a charming village of sorts containing local houses from different periods, some of them relocated many miles, brick by brick, to the site. Inside you learn how people lived in those days, and can also watch as craftsmen (and women) create products from the times. We almost... More

The day we spent here with the family was great, it really showed us the history of the area and how they farmed and lived. It takes at least a couple hours to wander through all the farmhouses that were brought here and reconstructed in the 1960's. You would think that they had always been here. Some highlights, - they... More
