We were interested only to see the actual weaving techniques. The older woman displayed her ability to weave but i was thinking.."were the young generation know the technique?" If none at all in this time. then this beautiful cultural identity and tradition will eventually lost. There were a lot to buy. All originally woven design. Beautiful art piece. Love it. More

Traditional weavings carry the wisdom of our forefathers. The woven fabrics at this place is no exception. The weavers are a tribe traditionally based in Basilan but due to the war they are displaced and are currently based here. The Yakan weaver center is located in Yakan Village,Brgy. Upper Calarian, Zamboanga City. About 20mins by a car from downtown. It is a unique cloth with colorful designs that are hand woven by the yakans (a tribe from basilan). i bought a wallet made from the cloth for only P30.00. More
