Took the grand kids 2 and 5, they had a great time here. They had a scavenger hunt that the 5 year old really enjoyed. We had to look at each exhibit closely to find all the items. There were several other kids there also enjoying it all. They have table set up just so kids can touch and pick... More

While the museum is small, they pack a lot of information in this space. My main goal was to see Misty and Stormy, the main characters of two of my favorite childhood books. They are still enchanting, in death as in life. My husband was particularly interested in the oyster exhibit, as his father and other men in our town... More

We went here on a the recomendation of a local islander (the people in Chincoteague are very friendly). My husband isn't big on museums, but there is so much to see here. While we were looking around, there were new items being brought in to be put on display. The staff get you interested by sending you on a "treasure... More

This museum is not very large but it is jam-packed with all sorts of historical information, artifacts, and natural history displays that give a good sense of the history of the area and it's rich heritage of harvesting the bounty of the sea and bays that surround the island. It is a great place to spend and hour or so!

My husband and I had a wonderful time at this annual fundraiser, what a great idea, and lovely to see so many talented locals supporting their community museum. The Sangria was especially tastey. We'll be back next year!

The Musuem of Chincoteague Island has reopened for the 2013 season with fresh new exhbits, a wall of local photographs and Misty corraled right in the front room. All the reasons to love this charming, laid-back Eastern Shore community are on display. New for 2013, there are 3 to 5 day programs run by the Museum and offered through Road... More

If you visited the Museum more than two years ago, come back again! If you have never visited the Museum, it is a great way to learn about the past, present, and future of this one of a kind island. (Trip Advisor just named it the seventh best island in the USA.) The exhibits are fascinating, chronicling the history of... More

Very interesting and worth the admission cost. Don't miss it as you are going over the bridge to the Wildlife Refuge.
