The refuge was absolutely beautiful. I would recommend the weekly pass. We drove thru the park every evening and saw different wildlife everytime. The hiking paths are well kept and not strenuous. We saw ponies, birds, and deer. Don't forget the bug spray.

This is a very beautiful place with lots of wildlife to see. The only small downside is the mosquitoes are bloodthirsty. Make sure to spray yourself with bug spray even if you get out of the car for a couple of minutes to take a picture. It is well worth the trouble though to see this refuge. Also bring money...

5/24/2012 - I highly recommend a visit to Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. If you are able - take a bike tour. Rent a bike from one of the local bike shops off Maddox Street. No entrance fee for people on bikes. This will allow you to tour the island's miles of trails. We encountered a few ponies on one of...

Many bike and hiking trails, a fantastic beach, plenty of wildlife and the ponies are a treat. Just outside the park, commercialism for it is everywhere, but inside it is free from it. What a wonderful area to see.I have not been here in some time and its even more beautiful than i remember.It is well worth the ride from the ocean city area.To me it's so much nicer than Assateague iIsland.The scenic ride ariund the refuge is breathtaking.
